Dear SPACE members,

I have the privilege to invite you to the SPACE conference, which will be held in Kolding from April 24 till 26th April 2018.

As the President of the IBA International Business Academy, it is a great honour to host this event of the SPACE network of higher education institutions.

The conference theme “Fostering social impact by linking HEI research to entrepreneurship” is very much in line with IBAs approach to stimulate entrepreneurial synergies, while functioning as an integrated knowledge partner in the local public and business environment.

We are open for new ideas and experiences within this field and we are looking forward to discuss our approach with you.

IBA has been a member of the SPACE community for several years now and through this international network, we have found both inspiration and project partners. The SPACE Conference settings offers you great opportunities to connect with new people and to gain insight and update your knowledge in different areas, through meetings with colleagues, researchers and keynote speakers.

Venue

Our school has around 4,700 students – represented by 1,500 full time students and 3,200 students on the professional development courses. All supported by 120 permanent staff members and 80 freelance teachers and lecturers. We offer higher education programs at AP, Professional Bachelor and Master’s levels, within areas such as finance, sales and marketing, communication, technology and web, production and management, amongst others.

IBA connects with over 85 universities and institutions across the globe, from overseas or far-flung countries such as China, South Korea, Brazil and America, to European countries such as England, France, Spain and Romania.

We are active members of the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS). Study trips, student and employee exchanges, as well as conferences and development projects, are all organized through this network of international partners. IBA students also take part in international case competitions.

IBA also host IBA Confucius Classroom (IBACC). IBACC was established in October 2015 between Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance and IBA International Business Academy.

The IBACC is supported by the Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing, China.

The aim of IBACC is to strengthen educational and business cooperation between China and Denmark, as well as to support and promote the development of Chinese language education.

Kolding Hotel Apartments – a 4-star holiday centre – has 73 luxury apartments situated in the heart of Kolding. Many of the apartments have a beautiful view of Slotssøen (lake) and Koldinghus (castle).

Holiday in Kolding

Great fun for everyone. We have Koldinghus, Jutland’s last royal castle, danish design at the Trapholt art and design museum, as well as lots of activities for children. LEGOLAND in Billund is located close to Kolding.  The beautiful natural environment around Kolding is perfect for outdoor activities such as mountain biking, canoeing and angling. The day after the conference, Friday 27th of April, is a Danish Holiday, Store bededag, translated literally as Great Prayer Day or more loosely as General Prayer Day.

AIRPORT

The airport located closest to Kolding is Billund Airport, the second largest airport in Denmark. It is located about 45 kilometer from Kolding city center.

TAXI from the airport

A trip from the airport to Kolding by taxi will take around 40 minutes and will cost you between 700 to 800 DKK for a one-way trip. You might ask the hotel you are staying at, to make the reservation at a fixed price close to 700 DKK.

BUS from the airport

Besides taxi you can take the bus, route 166, to Kolding train station. It will take approx. 1 hour and a one-way ticket will cost 70 DKK, which you have to pay cash in the bus.

The train station is close to all the recommended hotels.

Submissions are welcome which relate to the general Conference theme under the following topics:

  • Higher Education Leadership, Governance and Operational Practices
  • Higher Education Pedagogy and Technologies

  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • Student Engagement, Diversity and Employability
  • Internationalization of Higher Education
  • Higher Education research and its relationship with entrepreneurship
  • Fostering entrepreneurship through education
  • Role of Higher Education in the promotion of entrepreneurship
  • Enablers and constraints in the promotion of research in higher education

Types of Submissions:

  • Refereed Long papers. Finished or consolidated R&D works, to be included in one of the Conference themes: 4000 words max excluding reference list
  • Refereed Working/Work-in-Progress. Ongoing works with relevant preliminary results, opened to discussion: 2500 words max excluding reference list
  • Poster Presentations. Initial work with relevant ideas, opened to discussion: A1 size (or 6 x A4)
  • Master/Doctoral submission: 2000 words max excluding reference list

All papers will be “blind reviewed” by at least two members of the Scientific Committee.

The authors of accepted poster papers must build and print a poster to be exhibited during the Conference. This poster must follow an A1 or A2 vertical format. The Conference includes Work Sessions where these posters are presented and orally discussed, with a 5-minute limit per poster.

Publication Opportunities

All papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings.

The best papers relating to Higher Education will be considered for publication in the network journal Advances in Higher Education: Research, Education, and Innovation

The best papers relating to Technology and Human Interaction will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Technology and Human Interaction  (http://www.igi-global.com/journal/international-journal-technology-human-interaction/1084). This is an indexed journal.

To ensure that the contribution (full paper, short paper/work in progress, poster paper or master/doctoral symposium paper) is published in the Proceedings, at least one of the authors must be fully registered in the conference; and the paper must comply with the suggested layout and page-limit. Additionally, all recommended modifications must be addressed by the authors before they submit the final version.

No more than one paper per registration will be published in the Conference Proceedings. An extra fee must be paid for the publication of additional papers, with a maximum of one additional paper per registration.
