Dear SPACE network members
One Conference day and one AGM, and a full cultural and social programme will be organized. The network has provided answers, carried out new projects, and provided new insights and methods, during more than 30 years.
We have always been an organization that strived to promote and innovate higher education institutions and we have succeeded thanks to you.
And this is precisely the reason to invite you and possibly your partner to this last event. Your past contributions have given the current board the opportunity to give something back in appreciation of what you have done for SPACE network. A Conference day “The future of education:”trends and challenges” and the AGM will be organized on the 7th of April 2022.
So, meeting you in Salamanca, Unesco World Heritage city in Spain, from 3th till 8th of April 2022 would please us immensely. The event is organized for sure to cherish the moments we had together during the 30 amazing years of SPACE journey.

“The Future of (P) Higher Education: Trends and Challenges”
This presentation is about a perspective on the future of Higher Education in Europe, particularly the Professional Higher Education (PHE), with its specificity and proper characteristics. A close link with the VDL strategy will be stablished and a brief presentation of EURASHE’s role, mainly connected with the PHE institutions participation, will be also highlighted. Future Universities, micro credentials, future skills and twin transition will be especially addressed.

Round table discussion based on case studies
The round table discussions will be structured around discussions based on different approaches to course design, structure and competence development. It will be in the light of the future of education: trends and challenges. The different approaches will each have their own introduction, and examples on course design/competence development.
The agenda would be like the following:

“RELEVANCE AND FUTURE OF TERTIARY EDUCATION NETWORKS: The case of SPACE”
Stefan Delplace is an educationalist, with a professional background in teaching (in-service training, higher and continuous education), who later specialised in Higher Education policies and their interaction with civil society. Stefan studied Commercial Sciences (BA) and has a MA degree in Linguistics from the University of Gent, and has acquired wide experience in working in international and intercultural environments.
Stefan was the Secretary General of EURASHE New window for 10 years, (2004-2014), and during this period he represented EURASHE in in the Bologna Follow-up Group and several of its working and coordination groups. In 2014, he was elected a member of the Bureau of the Steering committee for Policy and Practice at the Council of Europe.
Stefan specialised in policy towards and activities with partner countries of the EU (in the Tempus-TACIS & MEDA programmes). He regularly contributes to Business-Education fora and is a co-founder of the SPACE network (Business Studies and Languages), and a Member of the International Expert group, Education and Business Cooperation of the European Training Foundation (ETF).
Stefan has wide experience in quality assurance and accreditation issues, as a member of review teams, and as the EURASHE delegate in the ‘E4’ Group (with ENQA, EUA, ESU), In this capacity he contributed to the elaboration and later the revision of the European Standards and Guidelines for QA, and was also a member of the Executive Board of EQAR, the European Register for Quality Assurance Agencies, from 2012-2014.
“RELEVANCE AND FUTURE OF TERTIARY EDUCATION NETWORKS: The case of SPACE”
Not a history but a brief phenomenological exploration of SPACE, around four assertions about a network’s responsiveness to its members and to society’s expectations, which leads us to an examination of the ups and downs of a network that has never failed to reach a motivated membership, against the many odds.
